Our urgent needs right now are for adult road bikes, bike locks, and bike lights.
Hey all, there's a bunch of bike related and bikeable events coming up to help kick off summer.
SATURDAY, JUNE 21st:
Kirby Derby. http://www.kirbyderby.com/ If you haven't been to a Kirby Derby yet, you should definitely check it out. It's a big neighborhood block party with a parade, derby car races, and drinking in the street. We are going to meet at 4pm at the 1304bikes shop and bike over there as a group.
FRIDAY JUNE 27th:
Raleigh Critical Mass. Meet at the Belltower at 5:00pm, Ride Leaves at 5:30. Come join us on a fun, non-aggressive, ride around downtown. These rides have been a lot of fun lately, and we always end at Loco Pops on Hillsborough St. for Popsicles. Bring a friend and route suggestions.
FRIDAY, JULY 4th:
Paride. From Peter Eichenberger – "This Fourth of July, come join your brothers and sisters of the pedal and spoke to declare your liberation from petroleum. To fully express the freedom and happiness that comes from commodity-free transportation, consider appropriate costume reinforcing freedom from fuel. The First Annual Independence Day Paride will commence at the NCSU Belltower at three PM, wind through downtown Raleigh and terminate at the point of origin. The path will be determined by democracy. Come show your fellow citizens the currently available gasoline-free transportation choice residing in almost every home."
FRIDAY, JULY 4th:
This also happens to be first Friday. Not sure whats going to happen with first Friday being the 4th of July, but if the galleries are open, there should be a bike crew meeting at 7pm at the belltower.
SATURDAY, JULY 5th:
The Road Warrior!!! As part of their Cool Classiscs Series at the Colony Theatre, the're showing The Road Warrior in July. We'll be leading a ride to the Colony for the movie leaving from Five Points, meet on the steps of the Church at 11:15pm, the movie starts at midnight ($5 cash to get in). Mad Max/ Road Warrior Costumes are encouraged! Please bring bike lights as we'll be riding after dark. If this ride goes well, we may start a regular Monthly Midnight Movie Ride. There are some good midnight movies coming up like Eraserhead and Re-animator, so we'll see how it goes.
That's it for now, and we'll try and send reminders as these events get closer. Also, we're open from 6-9pm on Thursdays and 1-5pm on Sundays. We've got plenty of bikes, so if you know anyone in need, send them our way. We've also been really busy lately with all the recent press, so come on out to help us get more folks on bikes!
